Vampire Survivors

Vampire Survivors is the game that defined the bullet-heaven genre. You walk around, your weapons fire on their own, and thousands of night creatures pour in from every side. The goal is to last until dawn, and death usually comes first. Each run you pick up gems and items, level up weapons, and combine them so they evolve into stronger versions. Gold from each run buys permanent upgrades that help the next survivor. Power-ups can be refunded for free at any time, so it's easy to try new upgrade paths. The store page suggests taking two or three attack weapons early, leveling one at a time, and putting your first money into Armour and Luck. It's gothic horror with very simple controls and roguelite progression. You can play with mouse, keyboard, controller or touch, and there's local co-op for up to four players. It first appeared on itch.io in March 2021, reached Steam that December, and got its full release in October 2022. It suits anyone who likes quick runs that snowball into chaos.
